What’s pink, filled with sweets and has wheels?. . . . . . . . . None other than the Southern Cake Queen’s Mobile Cupcakery š These hot wheels are owned and operated by Emma Merisier. In 2004, Merisier decided to follow her passion and enrolled in a cake decorating class. The rest is history. SCQ bakery speciality cakes, cupcakes cookies and more.
We had the chance to catch up with Queen.
Check out our Q & A:
1. Have you always been a big baker? Yes, I have been baking since a little girl. I remember baking all the mixes included and my Aunt making us sweet bread to bake. I’ve always wanted to decorate cakes so I decided to take the class back in 2003. I’ve been loving it now.
2. How did you come up with the name Southern Cake Queen? I am from the South, I love cake, and I am a Queen!
3. Do you have any schooling in culinary arts and baking? No, I’m self taught….trial and error…..internet, magazines, and books!
4. I know all of your treats are great, but what are some customer favorites? SCQ signature strawberry, Southern Classic…crimson & creme: red velvet with cream cheese, 14 karat: carrot cake with crushed pineapples with a hint of cinnamon topped with cream cheese, red velvet cheesecake brownies
5. What advice do you have for someone that really wants to pursue their passions but dont know where to start or dont feel confident to get thing started? Choose a mentor in your field. There is no need to re-invent the wheel. Believe in yourself and trust God.
I would like to tell your readers that I do more than cupcakes. We also offer custom cakes and other delicious treats for all occasions. We also cater events smaill or large. Our Mobile cupcakery is also availabe for rent.
