While surfing through the Internet, I came across a new Sorority emerging via facebook.
Pi Nappa Kappa is a Natural Hair sorority who says its goal is “dedicated to providing educational resources to people of African descent on healthy hair and healthy lifestyle choices.”
The Sorority is a part of the Natural Healthy Hair Society.
Facebook shows it being established in 2010, although I haven’t heard about it until this pass week.
I honestly don’t know how to feel about such an organization geared to that of Natural Hair. While Natural Hair has become a movement , I feel establishing a sorority for it may be a bit extreme.
The name in itself is something I am opposed to,”Pi Nappa Kappa.” If you know me , you know I don’t like the word “nappy” or any variation of it. I understand it was associated as a negative word that is being turned around into something positive, but I think it’s still a word that is overly used.
The mission of this sorority is simple. It’s also a part of what is already a movement for this cult like thing we love called “Natural Hair.” Celebrating your hair in its natural state.
There mission: educating and inspiring all with natural hair.
