We all know that taking care of natural hair involves lots of patience and time. It is also important to make sure you take care of your natural dresses in between styling too!
So I bring up the question:
How do you untangle/loose out your hair? Not properly loosing out your dresses can cause serious damage to your hair. The hair can easily break, create knots and cause build up during washings, conditioning’s etc.
Here is a simple way to make sure you untangle your hair out completely when you want to change hairstyles, wash it etc.
1. Section the hair in 4 even sections on the head. Two in the front and two in the back.
2.Secure 3 of the 4 sections with a butterfly clip.
3. Use your fingers to carefully loose out the one section that is not secure.
4. When you feel like you have completely loosed out that section secure it and move on to the next section. Repeat these last 3 steps until the entire head is complete.
If you notice I do not use a comb anywhere in this process. I rarely do. Using your fingers allows you to carefully touch your hair and feel for any knots that may have been created during your previous hairstyle. Combing the hair at times may compromise your strands with pulling them out.
Those that still feel the need to use a comb only use a wide tooth comb. Also only do this after you have used your fingers to loose out the hair.
Comb the hair from the ends up to the root. Do not comb your hair from the root down. Do this while holding the top part of the hair near the root. (hold the hair as if you were going to put it in a pony tail then come going up)
Although this may seem like a lengthily process is very nessacry specially if you have a very kinky hair texture.
Happy Styling Everyone!
