So if you haven’t heard yet, keeping the earth clean and eco-friendly is the new cool. I don’t even care if it’s “trendy.” If it helps to recycle, reduce and reuse, I am all for it.
Here is why. As the earth continues to evolve, So do we. Our surroundings inside and out have a huge impact on our health and daily lives.
I have always been an earth lover, but since becoming a mom my stance on appreciating the earth has gotten bigger. Why? Because I want my children to grow up in an amazing place. Not to mention, I want them to appreciate the earth too. Let’s all be cool together and keep in mind these areas to keep this place looking good.
No Littering on Earth
Throwing trash on the ground is such a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Recently, I was at the park with my sons and we didn’t even stay long because there was so much litter.
There has never been a good enough reason to litter in my opinion. Take the extra half step to hold on to it, until you are able to properly dispose of your waste. Once you become more conscious of this you might even notice some of your “trash’ isn’t even trash, but it can even be recycled.
No Paper Products
Now, I know it is so much easier to just pull out a paper plate then throw it all in the trash when you are finished. The truth is, there is so much waste involved. If you use these on the regular, you are even doubling your trash weekly. Get comfortable washing some dishes and/or using the dishwasher when you can.
No Water Waste
There are so many ways to save on water in your home. When you brush your teeth, don’t leave the water running. Need to wash clothes? See if you can wash one big load instead of 3-4 small ones. I don’t really separate my whites and colors much these days anyway. Well at least sometimes, I feel it’s just wasteful.
Reusable Bags
It’s a tiny investment that can be a huge help for the environment. Many grocery stores even sell there very own reusable bags and offer discounts if you use them. States such as California, now charge a small fee to use plastic bags. You can just keep them in the car for your next shopping trip. Our son is really good about reminding us to “don’t forget the bags, mom!”
Shop Earth Friendly
There are so many brands that are getting more “eco” with their products. You don’t even have to look far to see who is being more earth-friendly either. Using more earth-friendly products in my home and for my children puts my mind at ease a bit. Some of my favorite brands are going this route are:
- Dr. Bronners
- Ikea
- Seventh Generation
- Nike
- Tom
- Beyond Meat
- Lush
- Apple
There is too many to name and that makes me happy š
Let’s be clear, I am no eco professional. I’m just a mom that wants her children to live in an amazing world.
I know it may not seem like it now, but over time we can really help this place we call earth. Waking up every day with the intention to keep our streets clean, homes eco-friendly.
