So I was going through some old boxes today and look what I found.
Kanye West Presents “Thank You and You’re Welcome” with J. Sakiya Sandifer. I got this book during his Glow in The Dark Tour May 8, 2008. The Tour featured performances by N.E.R.D and Rihanna. Chris Brown even made a brief appearence.
Besides the show being amazing, I got this little pocket book. Although it’s small in size and only 52 pages it tells us things we already tell ourselves plus more.
These books were handed out for free after the show. If you have ever been to concert you already know about the tons of flyers you get post concert. You know, the “after party to the after after party” flyers? I’m sure you get my drift.
This book obviously stood out among the array of the paper hills.
Yeezy explains in the dedication that the book is his “personal proverbs.” Things he lives by in business and just living life. He also shares he wanted to make a book for people on the go that don’t have time to read thicker books such “The Secret” and “48 Laws of Power.”
He read “Think Think Think and Think Again” by Sakiya and the rest was history.
Here are a few of my favorite “Thank You and You’re Welcome” book sayings. I love them because its the very same things I say to myself .
*”KNOW YOUR WORTH! People Always act like they’re doing more for you than you’re doing for them. Ask yourself this question, “Why would they do that?” Obvisously, you bring something to the table for them to even do business with you.”
“BE LEERY OF THE FREE GIFT BAG!: There are some people who try to put themselves into a position justso you’ll owe them something. Their entire M.O. is:” I did this for you, now you have to do something for me.” Don’t let people think you owe them anything. That puts you in a position of weakness. If they choose to give, it’s their choice.
“YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY RIGHT?: I refuse to accept other people’s ideas of happiness for me. As if there’s a “One Size fits all” standard for happiness. Regardless of your position in life, no one but you is qualifed to determine your happiness. “
