Generally speaking when you set a goal, you work hard to get it right?
This always sounds easy when it’s in your head, but then that thing called action needs to come into play at some point.
The action part is what is driven by motivation.
Among all the other goals I have, fitness is ranked pretty high.
It’s always been a part of my life, but I guess now I’m trying to turn it up a notch or two š
We are all guilty of lacking motivation. It’s human nature. One thing that I’m constantly learning is that motivation is an ongoing battle with yourself. You must in some degree trick yourself into what you need to do.
It doesn’t just knock at your front door asking what do you need help with. (Wishful thinking)
There are several things I have done and are still doing to help me stay focused. These things can be incorporated in any goal your trying to attain.
1. INCORPORATE
Incorporate your goal in your everyday life.
Things like going to work to make money to pay your bills are a must right? Add what it takes to achieve your goal right along side of it. Have it as a fixed part of your schedule.
2. WRITE IT DOWN
Write down your goal and then break it down into sections.
Sometimes when we set a goal we only see the finished product. We don’t factor in the road it takes to get there. This can be a good and bad thing. It can make our goal a little intimidating. If you break your goal down it can help you see the forest from the trees.
Example: If you have never ran a mile in your life and your goal is to run 5 miles a week it wouldn’t make sense to start with running 5 miles every day. Plus that would be bad for your health š
Running a half a mile a day or even every other day can help you progress and build on your goal.
3. POSITIVITY
Surround yourself with positive vibes only. Eliminate any negativity that compromising your goal.
There is so much bad buzzing around. Learning to filter it out can make your world a nice place. Protect your positivity by refusing the negative vibes.
4. REFRESH
Regroup ever so often to revaluate what you are trying to do. This reminds you of why you set out to achieve the goal in the first place.
Depending how long it takes to achieve your goal it’s important to go back and do a review.
5. HAVE FUN
Enjoy the journey.
It’s always a nice feeling to reflect on what it took to get to where you wanted to be. It also nice to remember the journey. Nothing good comes easy and being able to appreciate each step will make the end result so much sweeter.
Plus, having fun is important.
Am I right?
This little list is a work in progress. I’m not an expert in motivationology (fake word) This is just what currently works for me.
Hope it can help you too:)
